I’ll never forget that one time I was talking to this boy and I rejected him (mind you I almost gave him my address because we were supposed to go out) and he stalked and harassed me for an entire month and put my number on Craigslist (I was getting hundreds of calls and texts every day to the point my phone stopped working).

Men are crazy.

I had one throw a water bottle at me for ignoring him as I walked down the street. I was 6 months pregnant with my daughter on my way to a doctors appointment. The bottle missed me.

He’s lucky I was pregnant. I pulled my box cutter out on a dude one night on the train when I used to work nights a few years back. I scare myself sometimes because I’m gonna kill somebody one day.

I always carry my knife with me just because dudes love to act stupid so I’m prepared to cut they ass accordingly :)

Omg where can I get a pocket knife?

Amazon! They have these knifes disguised as keys.

I got this on amazon. Closes up and looks like a leaf. Sits right on my key chain.

WomenOnGuard.com also has a selection, many of which you can find on Amazon - but should you find yourself spending $50 on self defense weapons, WomenOnGuard.com offers free pepper spray & free shipping (as of March 14, 2018 - in case that offer ends at some point)

As someone with limited strength and physical mobility, but who can press a button pretty easily, I recommend personal keychain alarms that are set to make a VERY loud noise (140db–about the same noise level as a chainsaw). They’re about $8 a piece usually, but you can buy 3 for 16 and split them among your family and friends. If it doesn’t startle and deter the harasser/attacker, it’ll definitely get someone’s attention.

I usually end up taking most my classes in evening so I can go straight to work after. For a year or so I never carried anything with me. When the security guard at my job found out he was livid. He went and got me mace and a little pocket knife.

Within the last year I’ve had a guy follow me in the parking garage when ain’t no other cars there.

I’ve had guys waiting outside my job and no one is there to walk me to my car at 3am.

Strap up ladies cause these men do note care how scary they are, they don’t care that they intimidate you into talking to you.

But also ladies RESEARCH THE LAWS OF YOUR STATE/CITY, cause some of the things you buy may get you arrested & possibly charged; even in self defence. For example: It’s illegal in NY state to carry and use a taser or possess a knife longer than a certain length. This is also very important, shitty to find out but important.

To ALL my female followers, please be safe!

Reblogging for more women to see!

I carry a screwdriver in my purse bc it’s tool but still sharp and I can always say, “well, I’m an artist, officer.”

Ive got the key knife. I’ve got a lipstick shaped knife. My dad gave me a cool collapsible knife that folds up like a debit card. I’ve got a little headband that pulls out into a stabby thing.

I keep a small weapon concealed in my boots or in a hair accessory when I go to music festivals too because dudes and drunk girls usualgl lead to trouble

I have this broken ring VERY  similar to this one except it hinged on two bands,

Well one broke off and it looks like a cute kitty, right?

WRONG MOTHER FUCKER!!!! It’s sharp as fuck and I will punch you dead in the dick if you fuck with me.

Wait, that’s broken and not a product I can buy? Removable stone rings like this need to be a thing.

Yeah I got it at the Pacific Science Center as my wedding ring but I somehow broke one of the bands off about a year later and this was the result of that. But there could be something similar out there or something you could potentially make yourself

OMG IT IS A THING YOU CAN BUY!!!

(As an aside don’t stab random people just people trying to hurt and attack you and are an immediate threat to your safety.)

Warning about those rings I am unsure if they might be considered brass knuckles which are VERY illegal so keep that in mind.

Honestly the weirdest thing about the similarities between Steven Universe and Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) isn’t even that they share oddly similar settings and premises, including:

  1. genderless but feminine presenting humanoid aliens made of gems
  2. who have superhuman strength and immortality
  3. and are good at fighting except they use swords instead of guns or other advanced weaponry for whatever reason
  4. and use these skills to fight off other aliens who periodically invade for mysterious reasons.
  5. also the protagonist starts off as really useless and clumsy but grows stronger and more competent as the series progresses
  6. oh and they both live in big fancy houses on a beach

Yet the weirdest thing about these two series is that judging by when they were released, they developed entirely independent of each other. Rebecca Sugar was already working on Steven Universe in 2011, and Houseki no Kuni was first released in 2012, which means Haruko Ichikawa was likely working on it at the same time. Both authors in two different countries had basically the same idea at around the same time, both entirely independent of the other’s influence. what the fuck

Fun fact: this also happened with Dennis the Menace as a UK and US version both debuted within 5 days of each other through pure coincidence, as neither artist was aware of the others work at the time.

I think maybe comic artists tap into some sort of plane of existence that gives them ideas and we just call it imagination, because I see this in the newspaper comics all the time.

I still stand my opinion that Thundercats Roar is terribly ugly but I love how the Hottest Take of the Day is that the show is somehow toxic anti-masculinity because Lion-O is goofy and Cheetara isn’t sexualized anymore.

POWER MOVE

I’ve been on the same genetic blood pressure medicine for close to 15 years now. I used to get 30 for less than $5, for YEARS. but in the last year or two, it’s abruptly gone up in price. when I filled it this month, they said it would be over $60 for the same 30 fucking pills at Walmart! that shit should be illegal. people should go to fucking JAIL.

if you’re in this same boat, go to https://goodrx.com and search for your prescriptions. the Walmart pharmacist told me to look into it cuz I was really upset when they quoted me the price and it really saved my ass. they give you different, LOWER prices for a lot of different pharmacies, so you can even search for the best price before you fill your meds. here’s an example, and remember Walmart said this shit was gonna cost me over $60:

and the website says that pharmacies are REQUIRED to honor this discount, and gives you steps to take it they refuse.

anyway, not all medications give this big of a discount (unfortunately) but gods, ANY savings is better than none, right? so this is definitely worth trying if your prescription costs have been inflated.

One of my meds, Wellbutrin, is ancient and used to cost me just about nothing.  Since last summer it’s gone up to ~$90 dollars.  My psychiatrist picked Wellbutrin because of its price, as he knows I’m usually a financial disaster.  This is INFURIATING.

ALSO there have been shortages of medication because multiple manufacturers will stop making it because it’s SO cheap they don’t feel they’re making enough of a profit.  The injectable antipsychotic Haldol had a shortage a few years ago, leaving an EXTREMELY vulnerable population unmedicated and providers scrambling to switch them to something that will be equally effective but *gasp!* more expensive and sometimes not covered by their insurance.

Capitalism has NO PLACE in healthcare.

If you’re trying to catch a housecat that’s gotten outside, don’t forget: they’re an ambush predator and you’re a persistence predator. You have several times more endurance than they do - use that to your advantage! Don’t run after them; that’s playing to the cat’s strengths, and vigorous pursuit may cause them to hide. Instead, follow them at a brisk walking pace until they get tired and need to have a lie-down, at which point you can simply pick them up and take them home.

Ok but no shit this tactic is what allowed humans to survive pre-civilisation

new ebbits! new site!

this is probably my favourite comic of all time jsyk

can someone explain this to me?

Sure thing! For convenience I’ll refer to the guy with his arms in his pockets as SG (shorter guy) and the one on the computer as TG (taller guy).

In the first panel, SG sees TG playing on the computer and is disappointed. SG puts a lot of value in the idea of “making things,” specifically “art,” and thinks TG is just wasting their time

So he asks them if they wouldn’t rather be “making something” instead of just playing games and listening to music, implying that TG isn’t doing anything worthwhile or creative with their time

But TG replies that “interpreting is generative,” meaning that even if they spend their time just doing fun stuff, the mere act of enjoying something is creating an experience and an interpretation. Talking about something, dancing to music or sharing a piece of art with your friends IS “making something,” and each of those can be worthwhile and artistic.

SG leaves, complaining he “can’t be an auteur of [interpretation].” Auteur is a movie term that refers to a filmmaker with artistic control and vision enough to be considered essentially the singular creator of the resulting work of art. Turns out, SG doesn’t just want to “make things,” he wants to make things he and others see as “important.” He wants to make art not for the sake of art, but for the sake of being recognized and praised for his art.

This comic really speaks to elitism within the artistic community, the idea that art needs to meet certain standards to be considered art. SG’s viewpoint is really traditionalist, that art need to be “approved” and validated in order to be considered “really art;” while TG recognizes that art can be as little as just talking about what you love.

TLDR: Art is for everyone, not just some sort of social “artistic elite.”

ooh i love the explanation

Rebloging for that in depth and not even a little snarky explanation. 10/10

Gonna be real I was the shorter guy until reading this and i feel kinda like an asshole ut good job OP for changin my mind
